Hi-Tech Diamond electroplated diamond discs provide a flat grinding surface for both rough and fine grinding on stones and glass. Top-grade diamond powder is nickel electroplated uniformly onto a 1mm-thick steel disc, resulting in the highest quality disc available on the market. These diamond discs have a long lifespan because they are made of steel and are well-suited for more heavy-duty grinding. Diamond discs are used on our All-U-Need and Slant Cabber lap machines, and can be used on all other lap machines that accept 1/2″ arbors.

6″ and 8″ diameter discs are available in a large variety of different diamond grits. All diamond discs are available with or without a 3M pressure-sensitive, high-tack adhesive backing on the backside. Simply peel off the adhesive backing and apply to a backing plate for a permanent application.

Purchasing notes: Max RPM is 4,000. Discs require a backing plate. We recommend purchasing disc bushings with diamond discs that are not permanently bound to a backing plate, such as the discs without adhesive backings, to prevent all possible vibration and off-centered alignment that may occur.

60 grit diamond disc

I wish the 60 or 80 grit discs came with the machine. I was (am) a beginner and if it wasn't for a lapidary class I took, I would have beat the 180 to death trying to get the right shape. I may have already worn that one out playing around when I first got the machine. The 60 grit is a game changer. Just don't have the speed turned up too high. I had water going at a good rate but I have quite a bit of residue left over. What is the best way to clean them? (It has dried now). Thank-You.

These discs are quality

I bought these discs back in early january (80,180,260,360) with the soft smoothing discs (220,325, 600,1200,3000). As a beginner, you tend to beat on the discs a little harder than most people who are experienced would. I realised my mistakes after a few weeks with zero damage done to the diamonds on my discs. They honestly started cutting better and more evenly. Turns out, there's a break in period! The more you use them, the better and more uniform they grind.
I've been using them every single day, cutting a handful of material a day and I don't see them wearing out anytime soon.

I would recommend getting the exact discs that I have mentioned. It makes grinding hard material much easier, especially if you like doing flats , that way you're not beating on the 325 smoothing disc to remove scratches from harder material. I would also recommend a 3000 grit disc. It's a much better pre-polish than the 1200. a lot of people claim to never need to go past this disc. An 80 grit grinding disc is definitely necessary for removing material. the 180 just isn't fast at doing the job of the 80 grit disc. Getting an 80 grit disc would expand the lifespan of the 180 disc as well. Less stress on it.

I hope this review helped people.

Too soon to tell

Just got them. Shipping was on time and was well packaged. Discs seem fine, just have not used them enough to know how long they will last on hard material. (agate, jasper, calcedony, jade and petrified wood). They sure grind fast when new LOL. I'll give them a 5 star rating if they last a reasonable time.

First set of these diamond lap disc proved good service. New disc could use a spinup balance test in the qc department.
Instructions should state a suggested breakin method. Good shipping and packaging.

No fuss and always on time!

Great website, easy to find what you need, orders filled quickly and my products arrive fast! The disk I replace has been used a lot, amazed it lasted a few years. Great asset to the fused glass shop with my HiTech 8" Grinder.

Thank you, for being dependable!
