Hi-Tech Diamond electroplated diamond discs provide a flat grinding surface for both rough and fine grinding on stones and glass. Top-grade diamond powder is nickel electroplated uniformly onto a 1mm-thick steel disc, resulting in the highest quality disc available on the market. These diamond discs have a long lifespan because they are made of steel and are well-suited for more heavy-duty grinding. Diamond discs are used on our All-U-Need and Slant Cabber lap machines, and can be used on all other lap machines that accept 1/2″ arbors.

6″ and 8″ diameter discs are available in a large variety of different diamond grits. All diamond discs are available with or without a 3M pressure-sensitive, high-tack adhesive backing on the backside. Simply peel off the adhesive backing and apply to a backing plate for a permanent application.

Purchasing notes: Max RPM is 4,000. Discs require a backing plate. We recommend purchasing disc bushings with diamond discs that are not permanently bound to a backing plate, such as the discs without adhesive backings, to prevent all possible vibration and off-centered alignment that may occur.

6" Hi Tech flat lap

The flat lap is a great unit. The fact that discs can be added to the all u need setup is a plus. I like that you can upgrade the 6" to an 8" without having to purchase a new unit. Orders are usually shipped and received without any issues, and customer service is great. The discs regardless if they are grinding, smoothing, or polish seem to last a good amount of time before replacing. This unit let's you do more than just a flat face. I have made free form cabachons, and have done slight dome polishes.

8” Hi-Tec slant cabber.

I love this machine, the only question i have is the jump from 1200 lap to 3000 lap is leaving very small scratches on the opal I am cutting. Why is there no 2000 lap able to purchase?

Hi Mick - Thanks so much for your kind words—we’re glad you’re enjoying the 8' Slant Cabber! That's a great question about the jump from 1200 to 3000. Opal is especially sensitive, so that gap can sometimes leave behind fine scratches that show up during polishing. Many users bridge this step by spending a bit more time on the 1200 to fully remove prior scratches. We appreciate the feedback on offering a 2000 lap—it's something we’ll certainly pass along to our team as we continue improving our product lineup. Thank you!

Great grinding disc and polishing discs

The grinding discs are really good they seem to hold their grit for a long time don't seem to be dulling at all the polishing discs the blue and the orange I really like you also definitely need the sponge pads. I've already post purchased a couple of backups but I could use a couple of more and possibly a discount coupon would be nice

I've a gem cutter. I have been doing this for twenty years . And finding quality laps has been a problem. But I have found these laps to be high quality.

Excellent saw that makes lapidary-related cutting so much easier. Set up was simple, and cleaning is a breeze also.
