Hi-Tech Diamond electroplated diamond laps provide a flat grinding surface for both rough and fine grinding on stones and glass. Top-grade diamond powder is nickel electroplated uniformly onto a 1mm-thick steel disc. This diamond disc is then professionally bound to an acrylic backing plate, making it ready for use. Because the diamond disc is made of steel, these laps have a long lifespan and are well-suited for more heavy-duty grinding. These electroplated diamond laps are used on our All-U-Need and Slant Cabber lap machines, and can be used on all other lap machines that accept 1/2″ arbors.

6" and 8" diameter laps are available in a large variety of different diamond grits. All laps have 1/2" arbor holes.

Please note: Max RPM is 4,000.

80 grit lap lasted three hours.

Not sure why but the diamond grit just rolled off of the disc like it was put on with Elmer’s glue! Within one hour of use the grit is basically gone. I have used a higher grit, 360 I believe for several weeks and lots of grinding and had no problem with the performance so I am really disappointed in the performance of the 80 grit disc. I definitely didn’t get my money’s worth out of it.

Hi David - Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear the 80 grit lap didn't perform as expected. Our electroplated diamond laps are designed to provide consistent cutting performance, and the diamond should not wear away after only an hour of normal use. Since you've had good results with our higher grit lap, it sounds like this particular disc may have been defective. We'd appreciate the opportunity to make this right. Please contact our customer service team with your order information so we can look into this further and arrange a replacement if appropriate. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we hope to restore your confidence in our products.

Using laps for faceting

I facet a lot of quartz varieties and have been using HI-TECH laps on my V5! Yeah, really. They run well for grinding, sanding and prefinishing. They are a great value for stock removal on large stones and perform very well. The 1,200 grit is my favorite in that it leaves things ready to polish. I'll use the 3,000 grit where and when needed. They cost a lot less than so many of the other brands and last a long time.

Exactly what I expected considering it was a replacement lap in the correct size for my machine. Very fast shipping, nice quality item.

New Ohio Rock Polisher

Got me the new HighTec Diamond 8” Polisher in April . Already have 25 very nice rocks smooth and polished . Some are 4” and a challenge but I have system down and doing a great job . Many agates and other very hard rocks from Michigan and Arizona. I just purchased the 80 grit electroplate diamond wheel to more quickly shape irregular hard stones. It does a great job
