Hi-Tech Diamond acrylic backing plates are made out of acrylic and provide an extremely flat surface for disc application. Hi-Tech Diamond 3/8" acrylic backing plates provide an extremely flat surface to back diamond smoothing discs, electroplated diamond discs, Tech-11 polishing pads and final polishing pads.

All acrylic backing plates have a 1/2" arbor hole.

Weather outside got cold again and I haven't used them at all, they look good on the desk tho

Good backing plates

I started using just 1 backing with the bushing. So much nicer having them on their own backing plate. And the foam pad feels great.

These work the way they should. It's unfortunate that a separate acrylic plate is needed for every smoothing disk doubling the price of smoothing disk replacement.

Hi Mitch - Thank you for your continued support. To reduce costs/need to purchase new backing plates, the acrylic backing plates can be reused. When replacing the top discs (Electroplated/ Smoothing discs or Tech-11 polishing pads) we recommend using very hot water, hair dryer on high or heat gun on low to heat and to loosen the adhesive and allow for easier removal. Once the topper disc is removed, residual adhesive may be left behind. The easiest way to remove adhesive left behind is to put mineral spirits on them, allow to sit for about 5-10 minutes and the adhesive will be very easy to wipe off from there.
