The Hi-Tech Diamond thin-rimmed, Super Slicer electroplated diamond saw blade is manufactured using premium diamond grit (120#) that is nickel electroplated along the rim onto a strong spring core. Thin rims make these blades suitable for fast cutting and trimming material.

Important purchasing note: This is a specialty blade and not intended for larger, harder cuts. The Super Slicer is recommended for cutting opals, turquoise, glass, materials that fracture easily, as well as smaller high end materials that you are looking to reduce material loss for.

All saw blades have 5/8″ arbors and come with 1/2″ bushings.

Please note: These blades must be run with a lubricant such as water or oil. NEVER run dry! We recommend using an oil-based lubricant. Oil gives you better cooling properties and will increase blade life. To enhance the performance and lifespan of these blades, abide by the recommended operating speeds and spin-dry your blade after use to prevent any rusting.

I purchased both the .015 in. core x .021 kerf and the .025 in core x .031 kerf blades for use only with cutting obsidian on a HiTech Diamond 10 in. saw. Both blades under performed for what my expectation were. Initially, the blades cut great on first piece of obsidian but dulled rather quickly with further use. Got about 4x obsidian pieces cut with .031 kerf and only 2x obsidian pieces with .021 kerf blades. I finally gave up with Super Slicer blades and went to MK Diamond Products MK-303 with .032 kerf ( PN 153695). Finished another 27 obsidian pieces and called it a day. MK-303 blade appears to be still reasonably sharp.

All blades were run in water with Slick Lube 412 additive in proper concentration ratio of 1/10 (lube/water). In all fairness, the ONLY minor advantage the Super Slicer blades seemed to have was reduced chipping during cutting. Surface cut finishes and uniform surfaces on both Super Slicer and MK-303 blades appeared identical. Gotta be careful touching obsidian Lol.

Bottom line. Sorry, but I would NOT purchase the Super Slicer blades again. Blade cost does not factor into my opinion, rather just my disappointment with this particular HiTech Diamond product line. BTW, I do have a new 6" Super Slicer blade for my 6 inch HiTech Diamond saw. I will check this out and play a bit with the saw motor speed variations vs performance and blade longevity on other obsidian pieces.

These are two different blade technologies with different intended applications, cutting characteristics, and expected lifespans, so it's not a direct apples-to-apples comparison. The Super Slicer is engineered to provide an ultra-thin kerf, minimize material loss, and produce cleaner cuts with reduced chipping—which we're glad you noticed during your testing. Sintered blades, on the other hand, are built for longer service life and can better withstand extended cutting on abrasive materials. Awesome blade for high grade turquoise

I’ve used this blade several times for cutting nice turquoise and it’s fantastic. Low kerf, nice for making exact cuts and really helps cut down on cracking. It’s extremely fast as well. I’ll see how durable it but so far 10/10. It’s great for splitting slabs for doublets as well. I wouldn’t use it as my main slabbing saw, more for fine trimming where you want exact cuts and no cracking. Seems like as long as you use it for the materials it’s recommended for, it’s excellent to have in your quiver

2 small garnets and it was done.... not worth the money

bought it to cut and shape garnets and barely got through the 2nd one before he blade was completely done.... not worth the money. I buy a lot of hi-tech blades but this one is not gonna be a re-purchase

Fantastic for lapidary!
Like butter!

This Saw blade is great for cutting turquoise. Howlite, Wild Horse, stones that have a lower hardness level, like 4-6. It cut like butter, very little chips if any. But,!!!!! don’t use it on harder stones. You’ll dull it in seconds and it can’t be fixed.
Yeah, that was me, read the note from High-Tech, listed as Important! My bad! I will get another one!
